Poem: The serenity of your smile and the sincerity in your voice when you say, "I love you"

Poem: The serenity of your smile and the sincerity in your voice when you say, "I love you"

Do I like you a lot? Or do I honestly love you?
Isn't there a difference?
Is it because I "think" I can't live without you the reason why I say I love you?
I remember you telling me one day that you know I will be able to live without you.
I also remember that when we broke up and I was miserable beyond words, I managed to still live.
Does that mean that I don't love you? No. I love you not because I thought I couldn't live without you but because with you, life meant something totally different. My life did not change from the moment I met you. Period My life changed from the moment that I actually opened my heart. I let down my guard, I became vulnerable to you. The serenity of your smile and the sincerity in your voice when you say, "I love you" is what made me realize something. I must have feelings. I didn't go out with you at first because I liked you instantly. I was attracted to you and I was like most guys, just trying to get you under my belt. But when you said that me, I will be honest, I didn't say anything back but, "Yea" But under that "Yea" I was having an internal battle with my feelings. It was like devils and angels on shoulders. To be honest again, the devils won that battle and they told me to go along, keep the relationship going, so I did. I said "I love you" to you a couple times with a faint meaning behind it. But one night, under the three bright things in the sky that we like to call, Stars... The serenity of your smile and the sincerity in your voice when you said, "I love you" seemed like it froze time. I swear everything stopped and it was just me and you and what you just said, it was like I never heard those three words from you before but knew what they meant or like "reading your favorite book for the first time". I realized that the "I must have feelings" mind set changed to "I know I have feelings" because at that moment I didn't like you anymore, I honestly loved you. And when I was saying "I can't live without you" I was really saying "Life isn't the same without you, I don't want to live without you" So my life without you is a life wanting to be with you. Everything changes when I am with you. It feels like time stops with you. So the question: Do I like you a lot? Or do I honestly love you? I honestly love you. When we became separated, we broke up from a love fading relationship after eight months about two to three months ago. Just recently, October first, Our love reunited into one, and everything feels so much better than it did the first time, honestly like reading your favorite book for the first time, everything feels much better and our relationship isn't the same. It's better, and healthy. I love you, honestly. words, I managed to still live.
Does that mean that I don't love yuh?
No.
I love yuh not because I thought I couldn't live without yuh but because with yuh, life meant something totally different.
My life did not change from the moment I met yuh. Period
My life changed from the moment that I actually opened my heart. I let down my guard, I became vulnerable to yuh.
The serenity of yuhr smile and the sincerity in yuhr voice when yuh say, "I love yuh" is what made me realize something.
I must have feelings.
I didn't go out with yuh at first because I liked yuh instantly.
I was attracted to yuh and I was like most guys, just trying to get yuh under my belt.
But when yuh said that me, I will be honest, I didn't say anything back but, "Yea"
But under that "Yea" I was having an internal battle with my feelings.
It was like devils and angels on shoulders.
To be honest again, the devils won that battle and they told me to go along, keep the relationship going, so I did.
I said "I love yuh" to yuh a couple times with a faint meaning behind it.
But one night, under the three bright things in the sky that we like to call, Stars..
The serenity of yuhr smile and the sincerity in yuhr voice when yuh said, "I love yuh" seemed like it froze time.
I swear everything stopped and it was just me and yuh and what yuh just said, it was like I never heard those three words from yuh before but knew what they meant or like "reading yuhr favorite book for the first time".
I realized that the "I must have feelings" mind set changed to "I know I have feelings" because at that moment I didn't like yuh anymore, I honestly loved yuh.
And when I was saying "I can't live without yuh" I was really saying "Life isn't the same without yuh, I don't want to live without yuh"
So my life with out yuh is a life wanting to be with yuh.
Everything changes when I am with yuh. It feels like time stops with yuh.
So the question, Do I like yuh a lot? Or do I honestly love yuh?
I honestly love yuh.
When we became separated, we broke up from a love fading relationship after eight months about two to three months ago.
Just recently, October first, Our love reunited into one, and everything feels so much better then it did the first time, honestly like reading yuh favorite book for the first time, everything feels much better and our relationship isn't the same. It's better, and healthy.

My Educational Experiences

Judging from my educational experiences, I am currently lazy and procrastinate a lot. In the past I would wait for the last minute to try and do work and I would get stressed out because it was a possibility that I couldn't bring my grade up but all along it my fault for the get go on why I was failing. Till this day I did not change from those experiences. For example, when I was attending Lincoln High School my teacher, Ms. Gray, assigned the class an essay to complete within a week. I did not start the essay till the last day, literally. I would go to my teacher and ask many question on how I can bring m,y grade up and ask for help on the essay, all at the last minute. Also, while I was attending Lincoln High School I was in this history class where at the end of every grading period we have to turn in a journal that contained our journal entry's from the beginning and end of the class. I would not do any of the entry's, maybe one or two but most of them I did not do. Then at the very last minute I would go to a friend and ask to copy her journal and I would rush myself and get stressed out. This is a bad habit that I need to break, but as of now I am still hanging on that habit. Currently, I am trying to break my habit in order to exceed in my education because being lazy and procrastinating is not the way to go far in life.

MY EDUCATIONAL TIMELINE

Webster Elementary School - CA Grades Kindergarten - 6th Grade
My experience was great because my favorite teacher of all time was my 6th grade teacher.

\Millennial Tech Middle School - CA Grades 7th Grade - 8th Grade
My experience was painful because I got in so much trouble.

Lincoln High School - CA Grades 9th Grade - First Semester of 10th Grade
My experience was alright because I did not get in much trouble and it was not my favorite school either.

San Pasqual Academy - CA Current
My experience so far is eagerness to leave because I hate it here.

Improvement

Over the past two years I have improved mostly in my behavior. When I was in middle school I was immature and constantly in trouble but as I transferred to high school I have been more mature and staying out of trouble. When it comes to how I have changed in my school work then that requires more thought. In middle school my writing skills were expressed by the teachers as "advance". They would say they love my writing because of the tone of voice I portray and I can keep them involved in the story. As I progressed to high school my writing skill diminished but I was still considered a terrific writer, the only thing that changed was my passion to write to my fullest capability. On to the next one, my reading skills were, in my mind, great when I was in middle school. I read a lot and I felt like I was a awesome reader but my test scored as a reader were not that high. As I went in to high school I became distracted from my social life and I lost my desire to read and did not read at all. My test scores were defiantly lower then middle school. Now a good reader should and most likely would be a good speaker. When I was in middle school I talked using slang although I knew how to talk with proper vocabulary and as I went to high school I carried on with my slang and still to this day even though I do know how to use proper choice of words. When it came to working in groups I was a team player in middle school and in high school, I had no change really. Last but not lease, my technology skills were not bad but not good while in middle school, I barley used technology. As I moved to high school I became a little more advance in technology then I was in middle school. I am still trying to improve all areas of my academic performances. I will continue to do that by working and staying out of trouble.

End of Year Reflection – Greatest High School Obstacle

During the past two year of my life my greatest obstacle was my circle of friends. The type of friends that I would be around was trouble makers and people who disregard the law on a daily basis and I would follow and be apart of that. I became a main factor in the group because I got so caught up in what we were doing. While I was at Lincoln High School I would do so much illigal activities that cause me to ditch school. My grades were the victim in  my actions. I would complain about my grades being so low but I never made a difference to bring them up. My actions would create a reputation for me and although I did not get in trouble with the law or the school with my actions, people still knew the truth and they would not truat me and I was banned from doing many activities that I wanted to do. My actions were my obstacle and I did not even try to change. Honestly, I felt like stressed out when ever I could  not do what I wanted so I drowned myself in my actions that caused my resistance to school activities. It was a bad desicion on my part, I still do not know why I continued to do the things that stopped me from getting what I want, it was contridicting myself. I still to this day continue on with what I was doing, I am still the same person that I was when I was at Lincoln, the same person from two years ago and the sad thing about it is that I am not making an effort to change.

How have you changed since freshman year?

When I was a freshman, I was attending Lincoln High School. Now, I am attending San Pasqual Academy. When I was a freshman at Lincoln HIgh School, I was extremely lazy with my school work. I would always get in trouble for breaking rules by either disrupting the class, getting into fights, being truant, defiance towards my teachers, I would procrastinate, or lie a lot. For example, I always got sent o=out of my english class for disrupupting the class by talking to my neighbors or even talking back to my teacher in a rude way. I would be truant to my algebra class multiple times and leave school grounds during school hours. Also I got passing grades but I was on the urge of failing because I would procrastinate on all my work. Now that I am at San Pasqual Academy I no longer do what I used to do, well I procrastinmate still but that is basically it. This shows that i have changed magnificently since freshman year. This also shows that it is a good thing that I changed schools otherwise I most likey would be doing the same actions as before. By my senior year, I hope to be a good student and on top of my school work, my main focus is to not procastinate as much because how I act will change with who I hang around with.

SPA Policy Blog Paragraph

One policy that i wish could be changed is the curfew time. Curfew is meant for those who do not know how to manage their time. Curfew is meant for those who need it, meant for discipline when needed, or meant for those who are incapable of staying out of nighttime trouble. If there is going to be a policy for curfew then it should be for those who either are getting in trouble or having bad grades, and also the curfew should not be so early-because when you cut off that extra time you are making extra time for the studying. For example, One Hour at SPA, curfew is 9:00pm while Two Hour is 8:00pm. Now yes its is only one hour difference but there is more, One Hour you are allowed out the house and not doing studies from 3:15pm through 5:30pm and 7:30pm through 9:00pm while Two Hour are allowed out the house with no studies from 3:15pm through 4:30pm and 7:30pm through 8:00. That leaves Two Hour people and extra hour(8:00pm through 9:00pm) to study or not be able to have freedom out the house, that is not fair. So if there is going to be a curfew for those who need it then it should be 9:00pm, the One Hour's curfew. But those who do not stay in trouble and have good grades should time themselves and have an appropriate curfew setting, like 11:00. So in conclusion, curfew is beneficial for those need it- not for those who are doing good.

Academic Language Week 35 - Sweatshops

Sweatshops are a violation of people's rights because they force you to do extreme LABOR with the reward being less then minimum wadge. This is ridiculous, nobody should ever have to work so hard for nothing. It is a violation to people's rights by being unfair, treating the workers like animals and not recognizing them of their hard-work, it's devastating that this is happening. Now some might argue that these workers signed a CONTRACT, coming into the job knowing what they are up for. But that still doesn't give anybody the right to over-work the workers or even treat the like slaves. Yes, they did signed the CONTRACT but they didn't sign up to be slaves, the bosses choose to treat them like that and they are also manipulating the workers, knowing they need the money, so they do anything to them because they know that they will take it and not quit because they know the workers need the money. These workers APPLY themselves too much to not get any credit and be treated like slaves, they do not deserve to be treated like this, these workers rights of equality is being striped. Another reason why Sweatshops are a violation to people's rights is that they take away a human right that John Locke proposed, stating that freedom is one of the three human rights that every human being has when they are born, working at a sweatshop will strip you of this right. So in conclusion, Sweatshops are a violation to people's rights, by striping them of both freedom and equality.

Academic Language Week 32 - Exit Exam

A high school should have to pass a high school exit exam in order to earn a high school diploma. One reason is that in society when you grow older you should know the basic and standard things that every else knows so you can get a high paying job. Another reason is to distribute the right jobs to people so that a person without basic skills does not end up somewhere high in power. Additionally, If you are in high school and you want to obtain a good job which may vary instead of being stuck with one option you should get your diploma.

Academic Language Week 31 - Teen Vandals

Parents of teen vandals should not be held responsible for their child's damage because it is an extremely negative way to teach the child a lesson, teens vandals need to learn their own lesson and be responsible for their own actions, not their parents. Another reason is because teen vandal can ACHIEVE a better way of controlling their actions if they are the ones that take on the heat of what they are doing. Also, SPECIFIC types of parenting should not be punished because there are parents who try their best to raise their kid right and keep them out o trouble but their kid just consistanly stay in trouble and the parents are the one who has to pay the price, it isn't fair. Last but not least, teens that have to pay for their damage will learn how to COMPUTE their budget and learn how money is involved with everything and how you don't want to waste it by doing stupid stuff like vandalism. So in conclusion, parents of teen vandals should not have to be responsible for their child's damage because in all, it will help the teen if the teen takes on the responsiblity for themselves.

Spring Break Blog Paragraph

During Spring Break, my mood was mainly lonely because my girlfriend "AWOL"ed  from San Pasqual Academy. She ran away on Easter Sunday and she did not even tell me she was leaving until when she left. So when she left my entire mood was lonely because I longed for her and she was not there. Also because when ever I needed to talk to her, I was not able to until she was ready and usually I'm able to talk to her when I need to but when she left I get to talk to her on her schedule. Another reason is that as a guy I need to have a girl somewhere where I can talk to her, but when my girlfriend left I did not have her to talk to or even sit in silence with, so I have been trying to meet my needs by talking to multiple females. I did this because I needed to have that empty void that was filled but is not empty to be filled again. So in conclusion, my mood was lonely during Spring Break.

Academic Language Week 30 - "D" Grades

"D" grades, should they even have the honor to be called a grade? I think not, "D" grades should be eliminated from school grading because it provides enough COMPENSATION to the students that think they do not have to apply themselves. It is a lazy way of passing and as a matter of fact, it is not really passing, it is the bridge between passing and failing. Also it is irrelevant for teachers to give "D" grades to students that do not put effort into their own grade. Another reason is because if INITIALLY the student starts the year with no "D" grades being availiable, then the student will create a habit of either earning "F" and below grades or "C" and above grades. For example, Shanika went to a middle school where "D" grades were not acceptable and she feels good that she now has the habit of working for good grades. Also if the bar of expectation is risen then the bar of passing students will to because students will INTERACT with the teacher so that they can not fail. So in conclusion, "D" grades should be eliminated from school grading.

Language Week 29 - School Conferences

One thing is for sure, parents should not have to serve jail time for missing their child's school conference. This should not happen because there is no written law about having to attend your child's school conferencem. It would be rediculous to to try to force that upon the cititzens now. Also it would be completely unfair because there are other crimes that are being commited and those people that are committing those crimes are not goin to jail. Another reason is because there is this white man named, George Zimmermann, who shot and killed a young African American and he did not go to jail or anything. So seeking out a parent and putting them in jail for not attending their child's school conference is stupid and a complete waste of money. It would be unreasonible resource to use by using the jail cell to make someone never miss their child's school conference, so it would be stupid to put them in jail. Also lets say that there are parents that transfer from job to job and they do not have the time to make it to their child's school conference, they should not have to go to jail for that, with no arguement. So in conclusion, parents that miss their child's school conference should not have face jail time at all.

Are you going to put them in jail as well? So in conclusion, parents that miss their child's school conference should not have to face jail time at all.

Trayvon Martin Paragraph

George Zimmerman should be charged with murder for shooting Trayvon Martin because if it were any other person, they would be charged with murder. Also because Trayvon was completely innocent and should be brought justice towards. Another is because if it were any other person that committed that murder then they would be charged with murder with no hesitation. George Zimmerman should be charged with murder because it is the honest thing to do, bring Trayvon justice by punishing the guy who ended his life, it is un-patriot like to just let this slide by because like President Obama said, "If my son was walking with a hood, would you shoot him to and get away from it jut because you say it's out of self-defense?" So in conclusion I believe that George Zimmerman should be charged with murder for shooting Trayvon Martin.

Do school officials have the right to use drug-sniffing dogs?

School officials should not be allowed to use drugs sniffing animals because it is a violation of space towards students. School officials should not ASSuME that students are using drugs because It would only create a negative RESPONSE from the student. Another reason is that bringing in a dog to sniff out people for drugs is one of the high needed PROCCESSES that are for when it is needed. So in conclusion, school officials should not be allowed to use drug sniffing animals.

Academic Language Week 2 - Cars

I would not want a car that drives itself because for one, I want to be in control of the vehicle that I am in. I want to be the one controlling every turn that is made and the amount of pressure that is on the gas pedal because i do not want to die. Another reason why I do not want a vehicle that drives itself is because it is not a great method to get from one destination to another if the car is controlling itself because you might have a better route to take rather then the car. Also because accidents occur often and if I want to be able to avoid them it would be best if I control the vehicle that I am in. One more reason why I would not want a car that drives itself because if i get attached to my car as if it were a human and lets say the car gets totaled, I would have to proceed to the next car and that most likely would emotionally tear me apart, just saying. So in conclusion, I would not want a car that drives itself.

Homonym Practice Paragraph

I grabbed the ball and ran down court as fast as I could, hoping that THEIR team couldn't stop me. "Over THERE behind you!" My teammates yell towards me at THEY'RE transitioning from defense to offense. I shot the ball up with the quickness as I pulled back from a dribble and stared at the moving ball in the air as if my coach just told me, "Son YOU'RE getting a scholarship from UCLA for basketball." It felt like hours waiting for the ball to go in the net until I heard a swish from the corner of my ear. It was the last shot of the fourth quarter and I hit it. All my teammates come to me chanting,"You did it!" Five minutes later after all the compliments I hear the voice on the mic say, "The player of the game is Joseph Cruz; YOUR team captain."

Should adults have the right to carry a concealed handgun?

Adults should not have the right to carry a concealed handgun. To establish a law or a constitution on being able to bear arms was a well developed idea but it may need work. One reason is it is too easy for a person to get a gun and hiding it is no problem. With that said, crime rates will shoot sky high. Another reason is small kids can find the gun and accidentally shoot someone for not knowing better. Additionally, there are better ways to protect ourselves. One more indication to adults having concealed arms is a problem are the recent school shootings. In conclusion, to justify no more guns, our future generations should be able to be free of the chains of violence.

Technology in School Paragraph

When teachers use technology it does not help me learn at all, well i take that back, they help me learn how to use the computer and that's all, nothing else. For example, this year, my tenth grade year, I have this teacher named, Ms. Priester, and all she does is use computers, literally. This does not help me because we spend more time trying to learn how to do what we are doing on the computer then the actual task and when that happens we never get our work down which earns us an F. In addition, this year she has a habitual teaching style. Lets say we need to do more work on poetry on Monday because we did not finish it all on Friday, she will not do it because on Monday we have to do spelling words and what not, or any other day at that matter. She goes by a pattern rather then actually see what we need to do and what we need work with or more work on. So all-in-all I do not believe in teaching your students with technology, just stick to old school style, pencil and paper, it is simple and easy to grasp.

Academic Language Week 24 - Online Learning

Online learning is not an effective way to educate students because it would be difficult for the student to get clarification on things they don't understand. Another reason is because the teacher would not be able to differentiate between a hardworking student verses a lazy student. Also it would be a insufficient way to educate students because it would be to easy for the student to get distracted depending on the area they are confided in. So in conclusion, online learning is not an effective way to educate students.

Imagery in Poetry Blog Post Paragraph

We Rappin' and Ballin' on the streets,
The hommies is like brothaz'
that never grew up with me,
But in my eyes they the only brothaz' to me.
So We rappin' while we playin'
havin' a good time,
I do the UTEP-2-Step
while sayin' a good rhyme
Even though I made some space
I can still smell his breath
it smell like hot, used toothpaste and garlic bread.
So as I pull up,
I heard him say something,
didn't hear him all the way
'cause the water sound from the net
led me astray
from listenin' to anything this buff-maniac finna' to say.
Hand-shakes and bowls
comin' from the bros,
I just hit the winnin' shot
like M.J. does on the bulls.
As much as I feel lucky
like the Jayhawks' Kentucky
I still hit the winnin' shot to win
like I'm Jeremy Lin

Academic Language Week 22 - Felons Voting

Should felons be allowed to vote? Yes, they should because felons are humans just as everyone else. A felon can be as simple as stealing some shoes or as COMPLEX as 3rd degree murder, so before stripping a criminal of their rights, look at the felon they committed because as we all know, consequences are determined by the action, so there is no point in taking away the right to vote to a criminal who stole shoes. Also there are criminal that are locked up because of lack of evidence of their innocence, so it would be IRRELEVANT to take away the right to vote to an innocent human being. Also instead of stripping the criminal of the right to vote as a consequence you should help them and find the SOURCE of the problem. So in conclusion, felons should be allowed to vote because it is a right.

Poetry Previous Knowledge Paragraph

Just because rappers rap their lyrics on a beat, that does not mean that they are not poets. The christian rapper, Lecrae, is my favorite rapper and poet. He has amazing word play and his flow is outrageously catchy, which makes people who listen to him, want to listen to him. Lecrae's songs are more like poems then they are raps because he rhyme scheme is like Eminem's rhyme scheme; random, out of order, and original. Lecrae's writing style is straight up similes, word play, and rhyme.
Similes are great to use in poems and or raps because they give you a whole explanation of what the poet is trying to say with just a few words. Lecrae does an amazing job with similes, for example in one of his raps he said, " we'll fight for Jesus like it's after school". Now just hearing, fight like it's after school, already puts an entire picture and or explanation in your head without even thinking about it.Lecrae is also amazing in his word play use, just down right phenomenal.
Word play, word play, word play...the most important factor in writing music and Lecrae does an incredibly great job in doing so. For example he said in one of his songs,"I'm tryin' to live in the image I was created in Earth was perfect, He said it'll be that way again Then, we'll be really dancing with the stars I might just hang out on the Moon, take a trip to Mars Ours, will be a new Heaven, new Earth A new life inherited through a new birth" Yes h rhymes, but he said one thing while saying another. That's amazing! But as a rapper, Lecrae needs to also use an important factor, rhyming, you cannot make a rap without rhyme, a poem yes a rap, no, and Lecrae does a great job at that.
When it comes to just poetry, rhyming is not a huge factor, but when it comes to rapping, it is. Lecrae rhymes scheme is almost identical to Eminem's rhyme scheme, original. For instance he will rhyme then rhyme one word after then will not rhyme with that word until after an entire bar. In one of his songs he wrote,"I tell you what's better, or better yet worse chasing your own glory while doing the Lord's work, so holla if it hurts, but we were made for greater our greatest satisfaction is making His name famous so if we're never named among the greatest, they don't critically acclaim us, ain't nothing to be ashamed of we gave it up for the savior!" That right there is just great rhyming and he did not rhyme at every part that he should have, he mixed it up and put his own style in it.
So basically Lecrae is just an amazing poet, take out the fact that he raps, he is an amazing poet point blank and period. So once again, Lecrae does a phenomenal job on using similes, word play, and rhyming, just straight up amazing and I cannot stop saying that. Lecrae Moore is my favorite poet and rapper of all time.

Academic Language Week 21 - Steroids

Should performance enhancing drugs, such as steroids, be allowed in sports, no, they should not. Performance enhancing drugs should not be allowed in sports because it takes away the spirit or the game that you are playing. For example football, if everybody used performance enhancing drugs such as steroids, the game wouldn't be football anymore it would be crazy people throwing each other and what not and it would basically take away the tradition of football or any sport at that matter.. Also it should not be allowed because it would take away the need for effort and take away the heart of a true athlete. There are plenty of other reasons why these sort of drugs should not be allowed but the primary reason why is that it is extremely unhealthy for the user if they use it for a long period of time or even a short period, either way it is still unhealthy for the user. So all in all what I am trying to say is that performance enhancing drugs should not, in any type of way, be used in sports.

Second Semester 2012 Goals

My goal for the second semester of the 2011-2012 school year is to achieve a 4.0 GPA. I selected this goal because I tend to slack off during my school hours! I need to be more disciplined in order to meet this goal. I will achieve this goal by attending class and giving my up most effort in all of my work. At the end of the semester, I will know I achieved my goal because when I get my report card and or progress report, I will have a 4.0 written on the bottom.

Academic Vocab Adult Interview Week 18

My houseparent, Chad think that teen drivers should have restrictions. They shouldn't drive past curfew.
I also interview, his wife, Melissa. She said that teen drivers shouldn't have restrictions. If everyone has restrictions, so should teen drivers. The last person I interviewed was Norman. He said that he agreed with Chad. Teen drivers shouldn't be allowed to drive past curfew.

Academic Practice Paragraph

Teen drivers should not have restrictions on their drivers’ licenses because it is not fair to make restrictions on teens and not everyone else. Also because not every teen is a reckless driver, there are teens that drive well and it wouldn’t be fair if those teens get the same restrictions as the teens that do drive reckless. Before teens are allowed to get a license they should first ACQUIRE the needs and expectations of being a safe driver to prevent accidents and avoid getting speeding tickets. The people who CONCLUDE on who gets their drivers licenses should first look at the teen CULTURE of independence so that they don’t ruin their independence of driving.
