Technology in School Paragraph

When teachers use technology it does not help me learn at all, well i take that back, they help me learn how to use the computer and that's all, nothing else. For example, this year, my tenth grade year, I have this teacher named, Ms. Priester, and all she does is use computers, literally. This does not help me because we spend more time trying to learn how to do what we are doing on the computer then the actual task and when that happens we never get our work down which earns us an F. In addition, this year she has a habitual teaching style. Lets say we need to do more work on poetry on Monday because we did not finish it all on Friday, she will not do it because on Monday we have to do spelling words and what not, or any other day at that matter. She goes by a pattern rather then actually see what we need to do and what we need work with or more work on. So all-in-all I do not believe in teaching your students with technology, just stick to old school style, pencil and paper, it is simple and easy to grasp.

Academic Language Week 24 - Online Learning

Online learning is not an effective way to educate students because it would be difficult for the student to get clarification on things they don't understand. Another reason is because the teacher would not be able to differentiate between a hardworking student verses a lazy student. Also it would be a insufficient way to educate students because it would be to easy for the student to get distracted depending on the area they are confided in. So in conclusion, online learning is not an effective way to educate students.

Imagery in Poetry Blog Post Paragraph

We Rappin' and Ballin' on the streets,
The hommies is like brothaz'
that never grew up with me,
But in my eyes they the only brothaz' to me.
So We rappin' while we playin'
havin' a good time,
I do the UTEP-2-Step
while sayin' a good rhyme
Even though I made some space
I can still smell his breath
it smell like hot, used toothpaste and garlic bread.
So as I pull up,
I heard him say something,
didn't hear him all the way
'cause the water sound from the net
led me astray
from listenin' to anything this buff-maniac finna' to say.
Hand-shakes and bowls
comin' from the bros,
I just hit the winnin' shot
like M.J. does on the bulls.
As much as I feel lucky
like the Jayhawks' Kentucky
I still hit the winnin' shot to win
like I'm Jeremy Lin

Academic Language Week 22 - Felons Voting

Should felons be allowed to vote? Yes, they should because felons are humans just as everyone else. A felon can be as simple as stealing some shoes or as COMPLEX as 3rd degree murder, so before stripping a criminal of their rights, look at the felon they committed because as we all know, consequences are determined by the action, so there is no point in taking away the right to vote to a criminal who stole shoes. Also there are criminal that are locked up because of lack of evidence of their innocence, so it would be IRRELEVANT to take away the right to vote to an innocent human being. Also instead of stripping the criminal of the right to vote as a consequence you should help them and find the SOURCE of the problem. So in conclusion, felons should be allowed to vote because it is a right.

Poetry Previous Knowledge Paragraph

Just because rappers rap their lyrics on a beat, that does not mean that they are not poets. The christian rapper, Lecrae, is my favorite rapper and poet. He has amazing word play and his flow is outrageously catchy, which makes people who listen to him, want to listen to him. Lecrae's songs are more like poems then they are raps because he rhyme scheme is like Eminem's rhyme scheme; random, out of order, and original. Lecrae's writing style is straight up similes, word play, and rhyme.
Similes are great to use in poems and or raps because they give you a whole explanation of what the poet is trying to say with just a few words. Lecrae does an amazing job with similes, for example in one of his raps he said, " we'll fight for Jesus like it's after school". Now just hearing, fight like it's after school, already puts an entire picture and or explanation in your head without even thinking about it.Lecrae is also amazing in his word play use, just down right phenomenal.
Word play, word play, word play...the most important factor in writing music and Lecrae does an incredibly great job in doing so. For example he said in one of his songs,"I'm tryin' to live in the image I was created in Earth was perfect, He said it'll be that way again Then, we'll be really dancing with the stars I might just hang out on the Moon, take a trip to Mars Ours, will be a new Heaven, new Earth A new life inherited through a new birth" Yes h rhymes, but he said one thing while saying another. That's amazing! But as a rapper, Lecrae needs to also use an important factor, rhyming, you cannot make a rap without rhyme, a poem yes a rap, no, and Lecrae does a great job at that.
When it comes to just poetry, rhyming is not a huge factor, but when it comes to rapping, it is. Lecrae rhymes scheme is almost identical to Eminem's rhyme scheme, original. For instance he will rhyme then rhyme one word after then will not rhyme with that word until after an entire bar. In one of his songs he wrote,"I tell you what's better, or better yet worse chasing your own glory while doing the Lord's work, so holla if it hurts, but we were made for greater our greatest satisfaction is making His name famous so if we're never named among the greatest, they don't critically acclaim us, ain't nothing to be ashamed of we gave it up for the savior!" That right there is just great rhyming and he did not rhyme at every part that he should have, he mixed it up and put his own style in it.
So basically Lecrae is just an amazing poet, take out the fact that he raps, he is an amazing poet point blank and period. So once again, Lecrae does a phenomenal job on using similes, word play, and rhyming, just straight up amazing and I cannot stop saying that. Lecrae Moore is my favorite poet and rapper of all time.

Academic Language Week 21 - Steroids

Should performance enhancing drugs, such as steroids, be allowed in sports, no, they should not. Performance enhancing drugs should not be allowed in sports because it takes away the spirit or the game that you are playing. For example football, if everybody used performance enhancing drugs such as steroids, the game wouldn't be football anymore it would be crazy people throwing each other and what not and it would basically take away the tradition of football or any sport at that matter.. Also it should not be allowed because it would take away the need for effort and take away the heart of a true athlete. There are plenty of other reasons why these sort of drugs should not be allowed but the primary reason why is that it is extremely unhealthy for the user if they use it for a long period of time or even a short period, either way it is still unhealthy for the user. So all in all what I am trying to say is that performance enhancing drugs should not, in any type of way, be used in sports.
